Hot tubs are designed for a lot of relaxation and deep tissue massage provided by powerful jets. As you glance at hot tub models, you will notice they are filled with a lot of jets and massage areas. Every model has different jet positions, so some basic understanding will help you select the hot tub style that is right for your needs.

Check out this guide to hot tub jet positions and learn how different jet positions will help soothe body parts and provide relief from muscle aches and pains.

Shoulder & Neck Jets

One of the more common areas where massage jets access is the shoulder and neck area. Look at hot tub models for the built-in headrests. Just below the headrest you may see some jets. The jets are designed to provide tension relief in the shoulder muscles and reduce stiffness in necks.

In some designs, the jets may be slightly smaller to provide a precision massage to the area. Custom jet settings also allow you to adjust the speed or turn off a specific jet if you want to focus on other areas of your body.

Lumbar Jets

Back pain is common occurrence in many people and lumbar hot tub jets are designed to provide relief. The lumbar area is the center and upper back that surrounds the spine. Jets will not directly hit the spine, but all of the muscles and tissue around the spine. An extended massage in the lumbar area will help your body recover after a long day of standing and physical work.

The massage will provide extended relief down your back and is an ideal treatment option after a long day of working. Even jobs where you sit a majority of the day can cause back pain. The lumbar focus will provide relief as you lounge and extend your body outward while you soak in the tub.

Hip Jets

Another jet area to look for are hip jets. Much like lumbar jets, the use of hip jets will help address your aches and pains. If your hips are inflamed, two focused jets will provide relief and can reduce swelling with extended use. Even if your hips aren't in pain, soaking in hot water and using jet massage treatments may help increase flexibility.

The more you use a hot tub, the more results you may find.

Wrist Jets

As you check out hot tub models, look at the arm rest areas for a majority of the seats. At the very end of several arms rests are two jets that are specifically made to massage the wrist area. The wrist jets are often overlooked, but can provide relief for your hands and arms. If you cook often, work with your hands, or type on a computer, you may feel aches and pains in this area.

A jet massage will help relieve a lot of the tension and stiffness that may form. One of the main benefits is the increased blood circulation the jets cause. As blood flows through your hands more, you can heal and help prevent extended aches and pains.

Leg & Foot Jets

The bottom half of your body is an important focus for massage-based treatments as well. Many hot tub seats feature lounge positions where you can extend your legs straight out. Jets located underneath your legs will massage your thighs and the muscles in your legs.

Some hot tubs feature jets specifically made for your calves. Calf muscles are typically thicker and high-powered jets will provide a lot of relaxation on the area. Just beyond the calf jets are foot jets. Any jets you see on the very bottom of a hot tub are made for foot massage, including the arch and heel of the foot.

In lounge seats, massage jets may be found a little higher to the point where extended feet will reach the wall of the hot tub.
